Cesky Fousek
Overview
Cesky Fousek is a Czech breed, it is a gun dog. Gun dogs are type of hunting dogs that are developed to help hunters in hunting a retrieving. Gun dogs are divided in three types of gun dog which are retrievers, flushing dogs and pointing breeds. The origin of this breeds name means Czech Whiskers (Cesky- Czech, Fousek- Whiskers). It is a very active pointing and hunting dog, which almost got extinct in the past, before World War II even. They were almost wiped out during political upheavals but have managed to survive, and they came back to it's former glory. It's mostly only popular in the Czech Republic.
Description of Cesky Fousek
The Cesky Fousek is a breed which is wirehaired, and have their signature beard and mustache. The average male of this breed is approximately 24-26 inches (60-66 cm) tall, while the average female is 23-24 inches (58-62 cm) tall. Which makes this dog breed a medium to large dog type.
The difference in size between males and females is significant, males are noticeably larger. The average weight of this dog is 61-75 pounds (28-34 kg) for males, and for females it's 48-61 pounds (22-28 kg). It can be different colors, including brown, brown-ticked and roan.
Temperament and Fun facts
This is a very strong dog breed. Interesting fact, the females are called Ceska Fouska. The Cesky Fousek is adaptable and affectionate, which makes it a excellent family dog, that is friendly and compatible with children and adults. But, it's also eager and hardworking, needing lots of exercise and space, it's not compatible for apartments and suites.
If these dogs don't get their necessary exercise it may get fidgety and restless. They don't need lots of pampering and taking care of, other than brushing the coat and trimming the nails. It's a smart, loyal and protective dog, which doesn't mean it's not playful and energetic. Despite being a hunting dog, it can be easily trained to be a good family dog as well. It can tolerate a variety of different weather conditions with ease due to it's hair. They are also known as Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer or Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. It's litter size is 5-7 puppies. It's purebred.
The lifespan of this gorgeous puppy is between 12-15 years. Which is surprising for a dog of it's size, usually medium-large dogs are vulnerable to a variety of different diseases and problems, due to their size, and that affects their lifespan, but with the Cesky Fousek, that's not the case.
