So, the farmers and the locals didn't see any purpose in owning one and thus they almost went extinct, until 1987 where the Danish and Swedish Farm Clubs starting working together to keep the breed from becoming extinct.

The Danish Swedish Farm Dog is originally from Denmark and Sweden, According to history this breed gained its recognition in 1987 and it was known nationwide as more of a farm dog because it served as a guard dog, rat catcher, hunting dog as well as a watchdog, This breed is the perfect dog for farmers, now you can begin to understand the reason for the name. Fun fact, this breed of dogs used to be part of the Danish 'Circus Bennewis', A traveling Danish circus in Denmark, Where they would perform tricks for the locals. So this goes to show this breed can do almost anything.

Thanks to their predecessors, the Danish Swedish farm dog have incredibly keen senses and they will bark and notify their owner of an intruder the moment they notice one. This domestic dog does not exhibit many of the undesirable traits such as hyperactivity or dog aggression. This breed has a lot of energy and if there is no outlet for their large amount of energy they could develop bad habits such as chewing the furniture or garden digging.
