These dogs are known to be aggressive, tough, and cautious. In addition, they can be dependable, self-governing, and unbelievably ingenious. They are very strong and alert to execute their responsibilities even when provoked with threats.

They are sociable and share a good relationship with their owners as well as other family members. They are locally defensive and always ready to protect their people violently against intruders such as other dogs and people.

Researches show that these dogs can live for around twelve years. In most cases, these dogs are led to death by certain dog diseases, old age, or the combination of the two. They are also vulnerable to the subluxation of patella and malformed trachea. Some of them are susceptible to breathing issues, bone breakages, and open fontanel.

These dogs sheds their hair in a periodic and moderate manner. Like most mammals, the hair of these dogs develop from 3-phased hair glands. These phases include anagen- the common hair grows; catagen- the growth rate slows as hair shafts become thin; telegen- hair stopping to grow, gland relaxation and the falling off of the ancient hair.

The cycle begins again at the end of the telegen phase. This cycle duration may vary depending on the age and breed of the dog. In addition, the cycle duration of an outside dog may differ from that of an inside dog.
